Love… does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self- seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:4b-6
Elsewhere In 1 Corinthians…
For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? (3:3) Some of you have become arrogant… (4:18) Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? (5:6)
No one should seek their own good, but the good of others. (10:24) So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat, for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. (11:20-21)
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (15:33)
When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. No one, then, should treat him with contempt. (16:10-11a)
Do everything in love. (16:14)
