Worth It BANNER.jpg

Welcome

This week we are studying the parable of the shrewd manager. As you begin, share about how well you manage money. Is it one of your strengths or a weakness? Why? Who is the best money manager you know?

Worship

Read Psalm 24: 1-2 together. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for his Lordship over all things and ourselves, give God your needs and the needs around you, pray for each other that each person in your group may be drawn to the grace of God and strength to meet the challenges they face.

Word

Read: Luke 16:1-14
1. Review the storyline of the parable. In what crisis does the manager find himself? What plan does he devise? Why does the owner commend the manager?
2. Why do you think it would be important for the disciples to hear this parable? What was Jesus’ teaching here?
3. What does it mean to be ‘trustworthy handling worldly wealth’?
4. How do you view your money? Is it yours or God’s? Why?
5. What do you think about Jesus’ statement “you cannot serve both God and money”?
6. Who are some of the masters you have served in the past? What ‘masters’ pull at your allegiance now? How do you deal with these pressures in the light of your commitment to Christ?

Witness

What aspects of your relationship with money and resources is God seeking to reconcile with him? How can you reconcile with God’s understanding of and priorities toward your resources and wealth this week?
