Job 22:1-30

22:1-27:23 | This is the third round of dialogue between the four men.

22:1-30 | Within a string of specific accusations in his third speech, Eliphaz included Job among those committed to the ways of wickedness who believe God does not see or know their sin. All these accusations were refuted by both Job and God.

22:1-3 | In Eliphaz’s vies, Job was making too much of himself when he made his case before God, because God does not “need” righteous persons to accomplish His will. It is the righteous who will find their great need of God.

22:7-9 | Eliphaz unfairly charged Job with callous sins against the needy, characterizing his friend the way many people do the wealthy today.

22:21-27 | Job was urged to repent with the promise that God would answer his prayers. This was not an admonishment to pursue righteousness for its own sake, however, but a temptation to respond to God only because of the benefits Job might receive.
