Matthew 4:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
Ps. 91:11-12 (NKJV)
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
The Holy Word of God can be used to manipulate and control people who do not discern well. Spiritualism is as powerful of an addiction as any man-made drug.
Proverbs 14:15 (NLT)
Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps.
Matthew 4:7 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ”
The first part says “It is written.” Where is it written?
Exodus 17:7 (KJV)
And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
What is the context, the set of circumstances or facts that surround a particular event? Is there more truth for us to grasp?
A slave mindset emphasizes what is lacking rather than what has been provided.
When I’m in a spiritually and physically fatigued desert place, I’ll be tempted to question whether God is with me or not.
God’s Word breaks through my desert-like situation, and brings the refreshing of His presence because I KNOW God is with me and will NEVER leave me.
Let’s practice rightly dividing the Word
1. The Word says I don’t have to work.
Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Acts 6:4 (CEV)
We can spend our time praying and serving God by preaching.
Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Proverbs 21:25 (NLT)
Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NET)
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this command: “If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.”
1 Timothy 5:8 (NET)
But if someone does not provide for his own, especially his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
I’ve concluded that WORKING IS A GOOD THING, AND IT HONORS GOD!
2. The Word says women are not allowed to speak.
