How to Get What You Really Want, P3

What we naturally want is in conflict with what we actually want

You really want the respect of your adult children

No thing or fling is worth losing the respect of your children

When we discover what we really value, we are less prone to settle for what we merely want

What does God really want from me?

What does God want for me?

“22But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:22-25

What you were created for is connected to who you were created by

The kingdom of this world that we live in is fueled by two things – upgrades and experiences

School focuses on educating you to help you do something

Work is all about focusing on producing something

Relationships are usually focused on experiences and upgrades

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1

Worship can also mean “Service”

“2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

If you engage in the process of being transformed, overtime something is going to happen to you

When we understand the world the way God understands it, we are more inclined to do what God wants us to do.

Transformation happens by:
Taking off what you naturally want
Putting on what you ultimately want
