yServe ► I Have a Change of Heart

Empower the followers of Christ to overcome obstacles to developing a heart committed to God and elevating their kingdom service to God to a higher level

And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love. —Ezekiel 36:26 (TLB)

The heart of a servant

I know (and everyone else knows) I have the heart of a servant by…

“You can tell what they are by what they do.” —Matthew 7:16 (CEV)

1. Servants make themselves

  • I reserve time to serve
  • I still allow God to interrupt
  • I remind myself I am servant first

    2. Servants to needs

I serve God when I service the needs

  • I must seek out ways to care (for others)
  • I must expect/accept God’s compensation
  • I must also serve the need in front of me

    3. Servants with what they have

  • I must not make excuses
  • I must not procrastinate
  • I must not fear the current circumstances (wait for better)

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done —Ecclesiastes 11:4 (TLB)

My success is based on God’s ability not my own

    4. Servants do task with

Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people. —Colossians 3:23 (CEB)

  • I must not judge myself too important
  • I must not judge my task beneath me

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. —Galatians 6:3 (NLT)

The size of the task often does show the size of the heart (dedication)

    5. Servants are to their ministry(ies)

I must honor my commitments and be dedicated to doing them with excellence

  • I must keep my promises
  • I must complete my service
  • I must not allow being discouraged to justify quitting

    Test my heart

    God is testing our faithfulness

God has made a committment to reward His Good and faithful servant [Matthew 25:23]
He will be faithful to His committment toward
those who are faithful to theirs
