LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. We have experienced a tragic loss this past week as a church body. Take some time to pray together, especially for the Brackett family, and share how you and your families are doing.
   

2. Read the front of the bulletin. Do you feel lamenting is something Christians do well? What about our church? Do you think we tend to either skip past the honest painful stuff, or dwell in it, not truly holding on to the hope we have?
   

3. Read Jonah 2. Talk about where you see Jonah lamenting in his prayer.
   

4. Is Grace something you think you give too freely, or too sparingly? What is the danger of either position?
   

5. Read through Matthew 20:1-16. Talk about the concepts of Fairness, Justice, and Grace, and where you see them playing out in the text.
   

6. We’ve covered half of the book of Jonah so far. Where do you see yourself most in identifying with Jonah, up to this point?
   

7. Where is an area in your life that you have trouble receiving God’s gift of grace and forgiveness? If it’s appropriate for a mixed-gender group, share it with the group and pray together specifically for God to break through with His love and tender mercy.
