Are you setting the stage for God to show up?

Our response to any of the life’s trials will quickly reveal what’s really fueling us and the depth of our relationship with Jesus. For every hardship, we can set the stage for self-reliance, or we can set the stage for God to show up.

Character & Integrity | Genesis 39
Doing the right thing will not always lead to a better outcome. While Joseph made a habit of resisting the temptation of ease and pleasure, he was sold into slavery and thrown into prison. Yet, he responded to every injustice with righteousness rather than self-righteousness.

Patience & Perseverance | Genesis 40
Joseph learned the art of delayed gratification. He denied himself of the temporary and immediate pleasure that sin can give in order to gain a greater joy and genuine blessing in the presence of God. This lesson was lived out both in his personal life as well as in his leadership of Egypt.

Faithfulness & Humility | Genesis 41:1-40
Amidst the pit and the prison, Joseph continued to follow God and do what was right. Joseph didn’t know God’s plan, but trusted that He had a plan and that He was good. And when Pharaoh raised him up, Joseph was quick to point to God as the source of truth and peace.

Discipline & Obedience | Genesis 41:41-57
Joseph proved over and over again that his faith was not just an idea, but active and alive in every season of life. He kept the proper long-term perspective and stayed disciplined through the years of plenty. This sustained him through the trials.

Competence & Wisdom | Genesis 50
Whether Joseph was shepherding a flock, managing Potiphar’s house, or leading a nation, he did it with excellence. His commitment to growing through the hardships of life led to the wisdom and strength required to lead Egypt through a famine and save his family.
