CHANGE OF HEART

Salvation

30 and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house.

33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household. 34 And he brought them into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, having believed in God with his whole household. —Acts 16:30-34 NASB

Believing isn’t

.

13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firmroot; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

—Luke 8:13 NASB
36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” —John 3:36 NASB
46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? —Luke 6:46 NASB

Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” —Mark 1:15 NASB
God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, —Acts 17:30 NASB
Getting religious does not equal repentance. Religious activity is, in fact, one of the most common substitutes for genuine repentance. Religious activity can be an attempt to “pay God off” in order to keep Him at a distance or to conceal the true state of our hearts, as if we can purchase latitude for the lifestyle we want to continue. “I’ve gone to church so much,” or “I’ve done so many other good things recently,” we think, “God’ won’t be that bothered if I do this again just this once.” That shows we’ve had no change of heart about our sin; we’ve simply worked out a formula (we think) to keep God off our backs. —- J.D. Greear (2013)

Repentance is

to God’s of life.

Jesus

baptism

18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, —Matthew 28:18-19 NASB

Baptism is

1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. —Romans 6:1-4 NASB

Baptism does

you

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. —Mark 16:15-16 NASB

Baptism is being
