1 Corinthians 1:18-31
04/21/24
Why is it that some people whom we care about cannot see Jesus and the cross for all of its power? Some even see it as foolishness and irrelevant. The Apostle Paul writes this section of 1 Corinthians to remind them of where their focus ought to be, not on human wisdom, but on God. God’s ways are higher than our ways and His power is made perfect in our weakness (Isaiah 55:8-9).
The cross of Christ is a message of:
Pardon
“Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never know Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.” v21
Peace
“May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.” v3
Power
“But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.” v18b
Action Points:
-What do I really believe about the Cross and Jesus Christ?
-Stop saying, “I’ll rely on humanistic good ideas.” Start relying on the power of the cross.
-Stop saying, “I don’t measure up, therefore God can’t use me.” Instead, trust in Him for what He can do in your life.
