Revolutionary – Josh Wilson

Why does kindness seem revolutionary?

When did we let hate get so ordinary?

30 Day Challenge
N - No negative words.
I - Initiate kindness
C - Communicate kindness
E - Encourage thankfulness

Psalm 63:3-4 (NASB)
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

Psalm 59:16 (NASB)
As for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress.”

Kindness is not soon forgotten
David said… “I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” 2 Samuel 9:7

[Jonathan]
Show me unfailing kindness like the LORD’s kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed, and do not ever cut off your kindness from my family … So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David. 1 Samuel 20:14-16

[Jesus]
She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” Mark 14:8-9

Kindness changes the trajectory of a life
Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?” 2 Samuel 9:8

Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth. And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet. 2 Samuel 9:12-13

His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” John 9:2-3

Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man replied … “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see! … Do you want to become his disciples, too?” John 9:17, 25, 27

Kindness melts a cold heart
Then Saul said, “I have sinned. Come back, David my son. Because you considered my life precious today, I will not try to harm you again. Surely I have acted like a fool and have been terribly wrong.” 1 Samuel 26:21

Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul [Paul], he said, “Brother Saul [Paul], the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17

Beginning a KINDNESS REVOLUTION

Receive the Kindness of God
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior Titus 3:4-6

Extend Kindness to others
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? Romans 2:4

Cultivate Kindness in your spirit
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
