INTRODUCTION

What keeps our faith strong when things around us seem to be collapsing? The five foundations of the Christian faith uphold Christianity, like strong columns supporting a grand building. These five fundamental truths form the foundation for what we believe as Christians. They are essential to our faith, and we are to defend them with our lives. Understanding these pillars not only strengthens our own beliefs, but also helps us explain our faith to others.

“If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?” —Psalm 11:3 (KJV)

In this collection, we will look at the five foundations of the Christian faith and how they bring us hope and form a solid foundation for our lives. This collection will include:

Today’s Takeaway: The virgin birth is an incredible miracle that shows God’s sovereignty.

Week 1 - PILLAR #1 – THE VIRGIN BIRTH

I. GOD’S IS UNFOLDED

“The angel replied to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God’.” —Luke 1:35

“But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit’.” —Matthew 1:20

II. GOD’S IS CHOSEN

“Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.” —Isaiah 7:14

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” —John 1:14

III. GOD’S IS SENT

“Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?” —Matthew 13:55

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.” —Hebrews 4:15

IV. GOD’S IS AVAILABLE

“See, I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary. “May it happen to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.” —Luke 1:38

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” —Luke 1:37

“Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—” —Ephesians 3:20
