Focal verse for the year:
The greatest among you will be your servant. —Matthew 23:11 NIV
Did You Know? Why Is Jesus Waiting To Return?
If I were in charge things would be different!
This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his comingg? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. —2 Peter 3:1-10
that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, —2 Peter 3:2
…scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. —2 Peter 3:3
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. —Acts 1:9-11
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. —2 Peter 3:9
God waits, but is never late.
The Lord is not slow.
God waits, but always keeps His word.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise.
God waits because of you.
but is patient toward you.
God waits because of His plan.
but is patient toward you not wishing that any should perish.
God waits because of His love.
but that all should reach repentance.
