Saying Goodbye

Acts 20:13-27
I. Time Alone v. 13-15
A. Paul simply

some time alone.
B. In our lives, we need to learn to solitude and quiet.
II. Avoiding a prolonged Goodbye v. 16
A. He calls for the to come to him.
B. Paul has a plan that has been given to him by the Holy Spirit and won’t from that plan, even to spend a few days saying bye to a church he loved.
III. Focus of His Ministry v. 17-21
A. “When I was with you”: Paul didn’t live off from the people he was teaching.
B. and tears: Paul demonstrated the key character trait of thinking of himself less.
C. He didn’t hesitate to teach them hard truths, but his focus was and our need for repentance.
IV. Led by the Spirit…into Trouble? v. 22-27
A. Paul is by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem.
B. This last option is that the Spirit has called Paul to Jerusalem and has also him of the troubles he will experience there.

How can we comprehend missionaries who willingly place their life in harm’s way because they feel called by God to serve in lands that are closed to the gospel? It is the same obedience that Paul shows.
