Proverbs 12:26
26 The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

A lie we believe: I can be friends with anyone.

The truth: I should be friendly to everyone, but friends with few.

1 Corinthians 15:33
33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Proverbs 13:20
20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Isaiah 41:10
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

Mark 2:1-5
2 When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. 4 They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. 5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”

4 attributes when looking for the right friends:

1. Godly friends

others over themselves.

2. Godly friends always others to Jesus.

3. Godly friends will through the obstacle and see an opportunity.

4. Godly friends will you into who you are meant to be.

Key Thought: He came in as a man on a mat, and left as a man on a mission.
