I have always been amazed that Paul wrote this epistle from prison. I would have been full of anger, fear, and defeat, but not Paul. Even though he was in prison not for what wrong he committed, but rather who wanted him in prison. He escaped several attempts on his life, a ship wreck, and even a snake bite on his way to Rome. (All of this can be found in Acts 21-28) Here he sits awaiting his fate, death, and these are the words he writes, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I have not attained perfect, yet, (Phil 1:6) but this one thing I do, live out:
- Forgetting the past failures, troubles, and even hurts.
- Reaching forward toward the goal. This is the idea of literally laying out, strething out with every ounce of strength and determination one has.
- Press toward this goal, and upward call of God in our lives.
So are you ready to strive to accomplish the task you have been given? Then respond to Him this morning. Make a commitment that you are going ot do everything you can to make sure your children know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
But this is only possible if you have geniune salvation, and life changing faith. Come this morning, and allow Jesus to make this change in you.
