Mark 4:35-41
We will begin the message this Sunday with a recognition of our military servicemen and women. Please read through the text and ponder the following:
1. What had taken place ‘on that day’ prior to Christ and His disciples setting sail across the Sea of Galilee?
2. Why do you think Mark tells us ‘they took Christ with them in the boat just as He was?’
3. Prior to setting sail, was Christ aware of the ‘great windstorm’ that would occur? If so, why do you think He had them make this journey at night?
4. How could Christ sleep so soundly through a storm so horrific the disciples thought it would sink their boat?
5. What is the significance of Christ’s command: ‘Peace! Be still!’
6. When Christ asked: ‘Why are you so afraid and have you still no faith’ how do you think the disciples may have responded?
7. Why were they more afraid following the storm than during the storm?
8. What do you think was Christ’s main purpose for this experience?
9. How does this text apply to us? Have you ever been afraid in the midst of marital problems, children rebellion, job difficulties, financial stress, or dealt with the prospects of dying to the point you couldn’t sleep at night? What lessons did Christ teach them that apply to us?
