In this final week, we look ahead with gratitude for the blessing of hope. Christian hope is not just wishful thinking; it is a confident expectation rooted in the promises of God. We are people of hope because of the resurrection of Jesus, which guarantees our future with God. As we close this series, we focus on the blessing of eternal hope that sustains us through trials, offering us peace and joy even in the most difficult seasons of life.

My soul, bless the Lord,

and do not forget all his benefits. —Psalm 103:2

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. —1 Peter 1:3-7

I. HOPE IS ROOTED IN THE PROMISES OF GOD

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:13

—1 Peter 1:3-5

II. HOPE THAT SUSTAINS US THROUGH TRIALS

You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. —1 Peter 1:6-7

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. —Romans 8:18

III. HOPE ANCHORED IN THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. —1 Corinthians 15:58
