Philippians 3:10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

A fulfilling life is lived with Jesus at the center.

Paul had a vision for who he wanted to be.

Philippians 3:12-14 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:1-2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

Philippians 4:12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

GRACE

Numbers 6:24-26 The LORD bless you and keep you; 25 the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.

Jude 1:24-25 To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Seasons of grace come with rest, peace, and favor.

GROWTH

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Ephesians 5:15-16 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Seasons of growth come with opportunity and expansion.

Being in a season of grace or growth, does not mean that you will not experience any setbacks, suffering, or disappointment.

2 Chronicles 14:6-7 He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest. 7 “Let us build up these towns,” he said to Judah, “and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the LORD our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.

A healthy life will come with rhythms of grace and growth.

FLAT

Hebrews 5:11-12 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

FAILING

1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.




THE PHYSICS OF FAITH

Your life will go through seasons where you are at rest and where you are in motion.


Living according to God’s ways leads to grace and growth.

Living according to our own ways eventually leads to a life that is flat and failing.

2 Chronicles 16:7 At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.

We measure life through God’s eyes and not human eyes.

1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT) But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

We are created to live in grace and growth.

The gravity of life will inevitably pull us towards flat and failing.

Is my faith healthy?

AN EVALUATION FOR HEALTHY FAITH

1. Am I Spending Time in God’s Word?

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet a light on my path.

2. Is my Life Exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit?

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

3. Is there a Place for Prayer in my Life?

4. Am I Using my Life to Serve Others?

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

5. Am I Generous?

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

6. Am I Living in Freedom?

John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

7. Am I Alive in Christ?

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

8. Is my Identity in Christ Jesus?

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

9. Am I living like my Body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
