Title: Priorities That Please God
Text: Genesis 4:1-8
Date: February 23, 2025

Introduction: As we continue our study in the Book of Genesis, the focus is still on the first man and woman. God commanded Adam and Eve (the first parents) to be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth. “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:28, KJV) and they obeyed the mandate. So, in the opening verses of chapter four, we see the beginning of family life. God’s Word describes beautifully and reverently the relationship of Adam and Eve as husband and wife.

Genesis 4:1 simply says that “Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant.” (NIV) “Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived.” (KJV) This is the Holy Spirit’s way of describing the intimate, loving relationship of a husband and wife. It captures the meaning of the words in Genesis 2:24, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”

It is in the context of the first marriage relationship, the first family, and the first Biblical picture of a home that we are introduced to two priorities that please God. What are they?

I. The Priority of

II. The Priority of
