
WATER BAPTISM
Never The Same
The word “baptism” comes from the Greek word “baptizo” which means “immersion” in water. Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ upon his confession of faith in Him as his personal Saviour and Lord.
1. The Baptism of Jesus
a. Read Matthew 3:13-17. Baptism is so important that Jesus came to John so that John would baptise Him. John baptised Jesus through (select one)

2. Believer’s Baptism
a. UNDERSTAND: Water baptism is MORE than just an outward act. We will see from scripture how OUR VERY LIVES ARE CHANGED through an understanding of this biblical truth.
b. Water baptism is the death and burial of the OLD SINFUL LIFE and the resurrection (Raised to Life) of the NEW LIFE OF GOD in the believer.
c. After reading Romans 6: 3-7, describe in your own words what is being declared in this important passage of scripture.
d. Wrong habits, immoral thought patterns and old sinful practices can be broken through an understanding and identification with Christ in baptism. In a few words, what does this mean to you?
3. A New Covenant Relationship
In the Old Testament, the Jewish people were identified to be God’s covenant people through the outward act of circumcision. In the New Testament, believer’s established a relationship through the act of baptism.

5. Separation from the World
TRUTH to REMEMBER: Baptism is a type of deliverance from the world by a total commitment to God’s purposes and determination to walk in His paths.
