Title: Growing In Gratitude
Text: 2 Corinthians 9:15
Date: November 24, 2024
Introduction: Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year when we gather with friends and family over delicious home-cooked meals. It’s a day inspired by gratitude to give thanks for all we have and to celebrate with people who mean the most in our lives. What are some favorite quotes to commemorate this relaxing holiday that captures the season’s true spirit? Let’s consider the following inspirational and funny thanksgiving quotes to celebrate Turkey Day:
— “I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage.” Erma Bombeck
— “It’s not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it’s the seconds.” Unknown
— “I suppose I will die never knowing what pumpkin pie tastes like when you have room for it.” Robert Brault
— “Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all.” William Faulkner
— “A moment of gratitude makes a difference in your attitude.” Bruce Wilkinson
— “What if today we were grateful for everything.” Charlie Brown
— “No matter what our circumstance, we can find a reason to be thankful.” David Jeremiah
Of course, the greatest quotes about gratitude and thanksgiving are from God’s Word! Paul wrote, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15) An attitude of gratitude can be detected in all of the writings of the Apostle Paul. He was grateful beyond words to God for His mercy and grace through Jesus Christ. Paul lived and labored that his life might express the gratitude of his heart.
When Paul attempted to express his gratitude in words, he found that his vocabulary was inadequate. The New English Bible translates the verse, “Thanks be to God for His gift beyond words!” The Message records, “Thank God for this gift, his gift. No language can praise it enough!”
As God’s people, we should be forever grateful! If we are not careful, we will take our blessings for granted and not respond with gratitude. A spirit of thankfulness must always mark our lives as believers.
As we think about our text for today, a prayer of thanksgiving, let’s discover four ways to increase our level of gratitude.
I. We must not get accustom to our
II. We must not forget that all blessings come from
III. We must not forget that the best blessings are
