INTRODUCTION

Being On Mission is being empowered by Jesus to share the Gospel with the people around us and all over the world. To do this we must tap into Jesus’ limitless strength and wisdom, surrendering our will and allowing His power to work through us. When we are empowered by Jesus for the Gospel, we can face any challenge with confidence, knowing that His purpose for our life is greater than we can imagine.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” —Matthew 24:14 (NKJV)

Today’s Takeaway: The Gospel must be shared both locally and globally.

Week 1 - “EMPOWERED TO SHARE GOD’S LOVE”

I. GOD’S PLAN WAS

“Your name will no longer be Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I will make you the father of many nations.” —Genesis 17:5

II. GOD’S HOUSE IS TO ALL

“May all the peoples of the earth know that the Lord is God. There is no other!” —1 Kings 8:60

“… for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” —Isaiah 56:7c

III. JESUS’ HIS PEOPLE

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” —Acts 1:8

Being a witness means you …

  1. Jesus where you are.

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,” —II Corinthians 5:20a (KJV)

  2. for opportunity to be a light.
“Brothers and sisters, pray for us also.” —I Thessalonians 5:25

“When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest truly is abundant, but the workers are few. 38Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.” —Matthew 9:36-38

  3. to God through the local Church to meet needs.
“Instruct them to do what is good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and willing to share,” —I Timothy 6:18
The Plan: Faith Promise Missions Offering

A Faith Promise Missions Offering is a promise between us and Jesus to give regularly to missions through City United Church a specific amount that the Lord leads us to give by faith over and above our tithes which supports local and global missions.

A Faith Promise Missions Offering can be defined as:

Faith: This means we are trusting for something we do not have.

Promise: This means that if God will do His part in us with the money, we will do our part in giving His part back to Him.

Missions: This means that our gift will be used to support the missional of our church.

Offering: This means we are giving this amount to over and above our tithe (10% of our gross income).
“Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit that is increasing to your account.” —Philippians 4:17

4. and reach people by being sent.

“As they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3Then after they had fasted, prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them off.” —Acts 13:2-3

IV. OUR IN GOD’S PLAN

“For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him. You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.” —2 Chronicles 16:9

V. EMPOWERED TO THE LINE

“After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” —Revelation 7:9

CONCLUSION: What steps do you need to take to share God’s love this week?
