SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

CONVERSATION STARTER
How many conversations have you had in the last couple months with those who haven’t called on the name of the Lord?

DEEPER

Read Romans 10:14-21
Pastor Josh reminded us that preaching the Word of God is not only the duty of the pastor, but of everyone who is a disciple of Jesus. Would your life convey that you believe this to be true? Why or why not?

Group Activity: Saving faith comes through hearing the Word of Christ proclaimed. Split into pairs and practice sharing the gospel (10 minutes total). Role-play as if one person is a non-believer and the other is explaining the gospel. Switch roles and provide encouragement and feedback. Come back as a whole group when you’re finished.

Discuss with the group your experience from the activity. What key truths did you include as you shared the gospel? What is absolutely essential for someone to hear in order to come to saving faith?

Think of your daily rhythms (the places you go, the people you see, etc.) in the everyday stuff of life, how can you be thinking evangelistically in these contexts?
What are some practical ways you can encourage and hold each other accountable in your evangelistic efforts?

What stood out to you in this week’s sermon? What were your biggest takeaways?

You are Sent!
Perform one intentional act of kindness for someone as a way to open the door for future spiritual conversations. (i.e. take someone out to eat and foot the bill, buy donuts for the office and write a blessing to your co-workers, rake your procrastinating neighbor’s leaves and leave them a note about our Savior who serves). Follow up with your Life Group to share your experience.

Invite a non-believer to join you for church this weekend. Type a name you intend to reach out to and submit it to the Life Group’s group chat. Have Life Group members greet them on Sunday morning and show interest in them.

Pray: Pray that God would soften the hearts of those you plan to share the gospel with in the coming weeks.

Write: Write down any questions you might have from the sermon and submit them to the website to be answered in a future podcast.
