Rev 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
Rev 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Rev 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
Rev 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
Rev 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
Rev 11:14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

  1. John now sees the temple of God and is told to go forth and it.
  2. This doesn’t immediately seem odd but the temple was destroyed in 70 ad and the book of Revelation wasn’t written until ad.
  3. John is seeing the temple that will be in the end times.
  4. In the last days the temple will be rebuilt by the .
  5. This will be allowed to happen because the Jews will believe he is the .
  6. This is the beginning of the treaty he will make between Isreal and other world religions.
  7. Three and a half years into the treaty he will either stand in the temple or place a of himself in the temple and claim that he is God.
  8. The sight where the temple once set is considered a place to both Jews and Muslims.
  9. In the war Israeli commander Moshe Dayan would give control of the temple mount to the Muslims while Israel maintained control of the boarders.
  10. Because of this regretful decision there are no

Dayan in any government facilities throughout all Isreal today.

  11. In the first three and a half years, the 1260 Day mentioned in verse, God will the commission two

to preach the message of repentance on the Earth.

  12. In the last three and a half years, the 42 months mentioned in verse 2, Jerusalem will be occupied by gentile .
  13. On the Babylonian calendar which only had days, 1260 days is 42 months or three and a half years.
  14. These two witnesses will show up and be as though they lived thousands of years ago.
  15. Verse 5 says that they will have the ability to breath fire which may or may not be literal. It could be a reference to judgement proclaimed through preaching.
  16. There are

main schools of though concerning the identification of the two witnesses.
    I. Zerubbabel and Jeshua
In Zechariah chapter 4 he sees a vision of these two lamp stands and two olive branches. The angel tells him they are the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel who rebuilt the temple in Jerusalem after it was destroyed the first with Jeshua the high priest whose name means branch. Zech 4:14 does say the lamps and branches are the two anointed ones but doesn’t necessarily say they are Zerubbabel and Jeshua.

    II. Elijah and Enoch
Many people believe that because these two men did not experience physical death that they will be sent back to preach during the tribulation and to die a martyrs death.

    III. Elijah and Moses
In the last chapter of the Old Testament Malachi 4. As the prophet is a writing about the tribulation he mentions by name both Moses and Elijah. Mal 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. Elijah is said specifically to be coming back but Malachi simply tells us to remember the law of Moses.

  17. The

testament is often summed up as the law and the prophets which are often represented by Moses and Elijah.

  18. The given to these two prophet are to withhold rain(Elijah) and turn water to blood(Moses)
  19. When Jesus took Peter, James and John to the top of the during the transfiguration he communed with Moses and Elijah.
  20. Although we cant be dogmatic on the second I believe

is definitely one of the prophets.

  21. In Gods perfect timing he will allow the anti-Christ to

    the prophets.

  22. There bodies will remain in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half while the people refuse to allow them to be .
  23. This will be a time of for the heathen even to the point of sending one another gifts.
  24. In this day the preaching of the word and the defending of the faith will be considered

    .

  25. At the end of these three and a half days God will

    the prophets.

  26. All the enemies can do is watch in fear as they into heaven.
  27. Next a great earthquake will wipe out a of the city and 7000 people will die.
  28. However the remnant that are left will to God and give him glory.
