Ephesians 5:18-21 - What’s with all this SINGING?
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” —Ephesians 5:18–21

WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO SING PRAISES TO GOD?
“singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” —Ephesians 5:19b–20
Instead of FORCING yourself to sing, FOCUS on truth that produces thankfulness…
Are you focused on what’s lacking in the present broken world, or are you focused on the perfection in the age to come that is promised to those who have pledged allegiance to Jesus Christ?
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. ” —Colossians 3:1–2
Do you see yourself as a condemned rebel who was rescued by the sacrifice of a just but merciful God?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” —John 3:16
