Main Point - Cornerstone Church Is To Be A House Of Prayer For All Nations

“And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.” —Isaiah 56:6-8

Cross Reference - Mark 11:15-18

Prayer Is Based On

Now I’ve heard people say things like there is a progression to learning how to pray.

  1. Talking To God.
  2. Talking With God.
  3. Listening To God.
  4. Being With God.

Our prayer life directly reflects our

for God.

“True prayer is the by-product of our personal “love relationship” with the Father.” —Warren W. Wiersbe

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” —Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer Should Have An Focus

There are many types of prayer - prayers of lament, prayers of praise, prayers of thanksgiving, petition, intercession, etc.

Petition - Bring our needs to God.
Intercession - Bringing the needs of others to God.

If prayers of petition are you asking God to move your behalf, prayers of intercession are you asking God to move on other’s behalf.
It’s believer’s taking on their priestly role by standing in the gap for someone else.

The type of prayer offered up at God’s house will be predominately for other people. He’s not saying that you can’t pray for yourself from time to time, but I think the majority of our prayers as a church body are prayers that are offered up with an outward focus. We are praying for others.
