10.6.24 - Creed (Week 1)
Part of Creed (Message Notes)
October 4, 2024
“The Apostle’s Creed”
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

1 Peter 3:15b-16
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the
hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that
those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their
slander.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
“Word” – Greek ‘Logos’ λόγος
John 1:2-5
2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing
was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The
light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
- The moral argument
The Big Bang cries out for a divine explanation. It forces the conclusion that nature had a
defined beginning. I cannot see how nature could have created itself; only a supernatural force
that is outside of space and time could have done that.

- The Cosmological Argument
“Belief in God is meant to fundamentally change our perspective on the world, on our place it
and on our own lives.” – Pastor and Author Adam Hamilton
Psalm 90:1-6
1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place
throughout all generations.
2 Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You turn people back to dust,
saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”
4 A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.
5 Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—
they are like the new grass of the morning:
6 In the morning it springs up new,
but by evening it is dry and withered.
