Group Questions – Week 4: Behave
Getting to Know Me Questions:
* What is the best perk you have ever enjoyed at a job?
* If you had to delete all but three apps from your smartphone, which ones would you keep
and why?
Into the Bible Questions:
* What’s something from this week’s teaching that you learned, that stood out, interesting
etc?
The 4 “B’s” of discipleship at Living Hope: Belong, Believe, Become, Behave.
Pastor Kirby said that to behave like Christ means we are “disciple makers”.
* What does that mean or look like to you?
The life of Holiness means we discover, adjust then grow. The journey of faith is always
growing and evolving.
* The saying goes that ‘you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.’ What or why is it difficult for
you/us to learn or accept new ideas/thoughts/beliefs?
READ: John 13:34
* Jesus called this a “new command”. How do you take this? Why did Jesus have to give a
“command” to do this? What was new about it?
* Pastor Kirby said ‘we are being discipled by someone and/or something’ every day. Think
about your day-to-day experiences. Who are you listening to the most? A certain radio or
news station or program? A certain speaker/person? A certain website/social media
pages? Why do we are we afraid or not willing to change it?
* What was a phrase you were always told about yourself as a kid? Ex. ‘why are you so
naughty?’ ‘are you dumb?’ ‘Grow up.’ ‘You’re so smart’. Etc. What was that phrase? How
has it affected how you think of yourself or how you interact with your kids or others in
your world?
READ: Job 36:26
* What sticks out to you in this verse? Is it encouraging? Overwhelming? Something else?
* Who is someone you’ve always admired or looked up to? What is it about who they are
that you want to ascribe to be?
READ: Colossians 3:12-14
* Pastor Kirby said that when we say we follow Jesus but don’t “put on Jesus”, like clothes,
we start to stink to the world around us. In the things listed in the verse, what “clothes of
Jesus do you need to change into?
Application Questions:
* This week intentionally listen to a different voice about an idea. When you disagree with
them, instead of automatically dismissing or blowing them off, ask yourself (or them) ‘why
do they believe this?’ ‘Why does their opinion bother me so much?’ What can you
discover, learn and grow through that experience?
