A Faithful Gospel Ministry

 2 Timothy 2:1-7

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules. The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. —2 Timothy 2:1-7 (NASB 1995)

1. We must be

in Christ’s grace.

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. —2 Timothy 2:1 (NASB 1995)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. —Ephesians 6:10-11 (NASB 1995)

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service —1 Timothy 1:12 (NASB 1995)

2. We must be

to spiritual investment.

I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less? —2 Corinthians 12:15 (NASB 1995)

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. —2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB 1995)

For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel. —Ezra 7:10 (NASB 1995)

3. We must be

to suffer.

Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. —2 Timothy 2:3 (NASB 1995)

Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. —John 15:20 (NASB 1995)

but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts. —1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NASB 1995)

Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. —1 Corinthians 9:26-27 (NASB 1995)

We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. —Colossians 1:28-29 (NASB 1995)
