Sermon Title & Text:”Our eyes look to the LORD” Psalms 123 ESV
Message Series: One Step Closer: Progressively moving closer and closer to God
Message in a Sentence: Our faith looks to you, for you will carry us through.
1. Its been said that ‘the eyes are a window to the soul’. The soul who looks to the LORD is one who is exercising faith.
2. The soul who looks to the LORD is mindful of who they are and where they are.
3. The soul who looks to the LORD is mindful of where God is, moreover, who God is
4. The soul who looks to the LORD longs to be in the presence of the LORD
5. The soul who looks to the LORD has an expectation from the LORD because they already have a track-record with the LORD.
6. The soul who looks to the LORD will pray for mercy.
7. Ultimately, the mercies of God are the sovereign acts of God whereby His great love for us is extended in sending His Son Jesus to die our souls to save
8. The soul who looks to the LORD praises God for his mercy.
9. The soul who looks to the LORD may be burdened with distress, even despair, yet they persevere toward His presence
10. The soul who looks to the LORD, though painfully aware of contemptuous circumstances, will delight in the Lord because of His mercy.
11. The soul who looks to the LORD will be at peace.

Everyday Jesus: Psalms 123 Our faith looks up to You

· Monday: Read Psalm 123:1 Notice how the Psalmist recognizes God even before he recognizes him/herself. Meditate on who God is in relation to where you sit. Also read Psalm 11:4
· Tuesday: Read Psalm 123:1 Consider the actions of the Psalmist toward God.. Consider your actions toward God. Also read Psalm 141:8
· Wednesday: Read Psalm 123:2 Notice how the Psalmist reasons from the lesser to the greater, from the earthly to the heavenly. Also read Psalm 25:15 .
· Thursday: Read Psalm 123:3 Why would mercy be your prayer? Thank God for His mighty act of love
· Friday: Read Psalm 123:4 Recognize that in this world you will have trials and tribulations, this is more reason to set our eyes toward the LORD, for in Him we too overcome. Read John 16:33
· Saturday: Read Psalm 123: Meditate on how moving toward God moves us beyond our circumstance. As we draw closer to God our circumstances appear much smaller. Let God be large and in charge.
