Col 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Col 4:3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
Col 4:4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Col 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Col 4:7 All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
Col 4:8 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
Col 4:9 With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.
Col 4:10 Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister’s son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
Col 4:11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Col 4:13 For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.
Col 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
Col 4:15 Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
Col 4:16 And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
Col 4:17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
Col 4:18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

1. As Paul concludes the letter of Colossians he encourages them to continue in

.
2. Not only to continue in prayer but to also watch as God so that they know what to pray for next.
3. Paul also has a specific prayer request, that opportunities would be opened for him to share the .
4. He acknowledges that this is why he is in but still wishes to continue preaching.
5. To make it manifest means to deliver it which can be difficult through letters.

Col 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

6. Those who are without are those who are not

.
7. Paul says to use while addressing them concerning salvation.
8. Redeeming the time simply means to make the most of the .
9. Our with unbelievers should always be palletable.
10. You may not always know the answer to every question asked but the conversation should always be .

Col 4:7 All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
Col 4:8 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;

11. Tychius was Paul’s liaison to Colosse, Ephesus and possibly

to let them know of his circumstance and to relay back any problems they may have.
12. Tychicus was an by birth; .His name means “fortunate”, and is the as “Fortunatus” in Latin, and is mentioned in 1Co_16:17.

Act 20:4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
1Co 16:17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.*

13. Onesimus was the

of Philemon the pastor at Colosse.
14. Onesimus had ran away but later got under Paul’s preaching.
15. Paul implores the church at Colosse to receive him as an not as a servant.
16. Onesimus was later a Pastor in the town of Beyrhoea where he was for his faith.
17. Aristarchus was another one of Paul’s regular companions and also imprisoned for the Gospel.
18. Mark the nephew of Barnabas was originally by Paul causing division amongst the two.
19. Apparently Mark had himself to Paul possibly by reputation and now Paul is accepting of him.
20. Not much is known about Justus except that he continually ministered to Paul while he was in .

Col 4:16 And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea

21. Paul also puts his hand of

on Epaphras who we learned in chapter 1 came to tell Paul about the church at Colosse.
22. Laodicea is mentioned twice here because it was a neighboring city and the letters being written would be read in of the churches.
23. Although Luke would remain faithful to the ministry later Demas turned his back on Paul and the ministry for worldly .

Col 4:17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
Col 4:18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

24. Archippus is also mentioned in Philemon and was another

that Paul was exhorting to continue steadfast in his ministry.
25. Paul closes by saying remember my bonds not because he wanted them to for him.
26. This was meant for them to see him as an of faith in troublesome times.
