Easter

“I have told you these things, so that in me you would have peace. In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the
Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! ‘Peace be with you,’ he said. As he
spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw
the Lord! Again he said, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.’ Then he
breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” John 20:19-22

“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. For everyone
who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.” John 11:25

1. The resurrection declares peace over my anxiousness

“Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! ‘Peace be with you,’ he said.” John 20:19

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because
Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for,
including a future in heaven—and the future starts now.” 1 Peter 1:3-4

2. The resurrection declares grace over my sin and shame

“Everyone deserted him and fled…” Mark 14:50

“’Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.’ Then he breathed on them and
said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” John 20:21-22

“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our
sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been
saved!)…For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good
things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:4-5 & 10

3. The resurrection declares joy over my sorrow

“As he spoke, he showed them the wounds on his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when
they saw the Lord!” John 20:20
