Summer School: Loyalty

Peter Gowesky

DISLOYALTY

ITSELF AS OTHER PEOPLE’S .

3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. 4 Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. —Proverbs 3:3-4

Loyalty = To wholly trust or believe in, to be unswervingly faithful.

33 Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”

34 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”

35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same. —Matthew 26:33-35

PT. 1 LOYALTY IS

NOT .

19 The king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you come along with us? Go back and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner, an exile from your homeland. 20 You came only yesterday. And today shall I make you wander about with us, when I do not know where I am going? Go back, and take your countrymen. May kindness and faithfulness be with you. 21 But Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.” —2 Samuel 15:19-21

PT. 2 LOYALTY CHOOSES OTHERS EVEN AT YOUR

.

7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. —James 4:7-9

PT. 3 DISLOYALTY BEGINS WITH A

HEART.

LOYALTY WILL STAND BY OTHERS EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T LIKE THEIR STAND.
