Sent To Bring Hope

The word “Missionary” is not in the Bible. “Apostle” is similar.

Both of these mean “Sent One”. If we misunderstand this, it can derail us.

In regards to foreign “missions”, God might call you to a place/people! Beyond that:

  • Give with others (like JFM) to bring to a people/place (Burundi)
  • Find a “heart burden” to invest in.

The New Testament is filled with the word CALLING

6 And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.” —Romans 1:6

9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” —1 Corinthians 1:9

9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” —1 Peter 2:9

21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps… 9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.” —1 Peter 2:21, 3:9

13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” —Galatians 5:13-14

  • ( I am is better because I’m there)
  • Why: because everywhere we go, we bring Jesus with us… we bring the Kingdom with us!

Ministry is life, and life is ministry.
