Luke 19:1-2
He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich.

Luke 19:3
Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.

Luke 19:3
Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.

Wrong question: Has life been fair to me? Have people treated me right?

Right question: Am I going to let some misfortune or mistreatment make me miss what God has for me?

Luke 19:4
So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way.

All of us have problems, challenges and temptations. But God always gives us opportunities to overcome them if we will just recognize those opportunities and act on them.

I Corinthians 10:13
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape…”

Luke 19:5 a
When Jesus came to the place….

Luke 19:5
When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

Luke 19:6-8
And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. 7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8 Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.”

People seek God for miracles but sometimes miss out on the greatest one of all.

Luke 19:9-10
And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

John 12:32
“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

Ezekiel 36:26 NIV
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Galatians 5:22-23 a
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control…

The story of Zacchaeus is the story of how God loves each of us individually and how He redeems and restores us.
