Micah 1:1-16
1:1-7 | Samaria and Jerusalem were the capitals of the northern and southern kingdoms. The people were offering sacrifices to the Lord in His temple but also worshiping idols. Their failure to worship the Lord only violated the first commandment and brought judgment. High places can refer both to geographic features, such as mountains, and to the pagan sites of worship that the Israelites were frequenting.
1:8-16 | Micah’s lament in response to God’s judgment vividly communicates how dire the people’s sin really was. The cave at Adullam (1 Sam. 22:1) was David’s hiding place when Saul pursued him.
