VISION PT 5: THE VALUE OF LIVING HONORABLY

Romans 14:8
If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord.
So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Hebrews 13:18
Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do.

As followers of Christ, our high calling is to live in a way that honors God, honors others, and honors the community around us.

Living Honorably In Our Ethic:

Living with a God-honoring ethic requires a commitment to integrity.

Proverbs 11:3
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

This Scripture points out that living honorably is not just about being honest but also about practicing justice, extending mercy, and walking humbly in our daily lives.

We Are To Honor God In Our Relationships:

Ephesians 4:2
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

We are To Honor God In Our Decision-Making:

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

We Are To Honor God With Commitments:

Matthew 5:37
let your yes be yes, and your no be no.

Living Honorably With Our Stewardship:

Stewarding with Honor means we recognize that all we have belongs to God and we are called to manage it for His glory and the good of others.

1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

We Are To Honor God With Financial Integrity:

We Are To Honor God With Our Time:

Ephesians 5:15-16
be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.

We Are To Honor God Through Our Example:

Leading by example means demonstrating Christ’s character consistently in both public and private, so that others are drawn to Him.

1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

Living honorably is a lifelong commitment. It requires us to align every aspect of our lives—our ethic, stewardship, and example—with the teachings of Christ.

TABLE TIME:

Proverbs 11:3
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Reflecting on Proverbs 11:3, how does integrity guide us in making decisions?
Can you share a personal example of when integrity shaped a choice or decision you made?

Micah 6:8 calls us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. What does it look like to practically live out these values in our everyday relationships and workplaces?

Psalm 90:12 encourages us to be wise with our days. Are there areas where you feel overcommitted or need to be more intentional with your time? How can we pracitcally honor God and our families with our time?

Romans 14:8 reminds us that we belong to the Lord. How does this truth change the way we approach living honorably in every area of life?

What practical steps can you take this week to live with honor in your relationships, work, and community?
