Seek to do a ‘reading from 3000 feet’ of these chapters, not focusing too intently on any part but just enjoying the whole. Note any words, passages, or ideas that stand out to you.
Prayer Prompt: What is the invitation of Jesus in this passage? Spend some time in prayer thanking God and pondering His invitation.
Tuesday 3/26: Mark 15:21-31 (Listen)
Calm yourself and then read passage reflectively two times, pausing for a few minutes between readings. After each reading ponder: what phrases, words, ideas stood out and why? Savor those words or ideas as a little word of God for you.
Prayer Prompt: Ask God for the grace for whatever you need most right now. If you’re not sure what to ask for, you might ask for the grace to really be present to Jesus in this moment and ponder his sufferings.
Wednesday 3/27: Mark 15:33-41 (Ponder)
Read the passage, or a section of the passage, reflectively two times, pausing a few minutes between readings. After each reading ponder what words, ideas, and passages, stood out to you.
Prayer Prompt: Reflect with God on the death of Jesus Christ. How has His death benefitted you? How do you desire to appreciate and live into Christ’s atoning death?
Thursday 3/28: Mark 15:42-47 (Pray)
Read the passage twice reflectively, with pauses between each reading, listening attentively. Has God addressed you in this word and invited you to respond?
Prayer Prompt: As you reflect on the death of Christ, allow the scripture to lead you into a prayer response. Do not censure your thoughts or requests; just let them flow spontaneously and freely before the Lord who loves you. Respond to God’s invitation to you.
Friday 3/29: Mark 16:1-8 (Apply)
Read the scriptures twice has you have been doing through the week. Between readings ponder today’s readings and the readings from the week.
Prayer Prompt: Ponder with God the blessing of the resurrection in your life? How does the resurrection prompt you to view yourself, others, and the world differently?
Saturday 3/30: Mark 16:9-19 (Prepare)
Read the passage two times and take times of quiet and reflection between.
Prayer Prompt: Ponder with God what it means in the midst of your challenges and struggles that Jesus is real, alive, and resurrected. And that the Holy Spirit is with us. Give to God your needs, challenges, and hopes.
Sunday 3/31: Mark 15:40-16:20 (Read)
As you read this passage and reflect on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, thank God for his goodness and love. Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed! Rest in God’s love in Jesus and through the Holy Spirit.
