Isaiah 19:1-25

19:1-10 | In this judgment against Egypt, Isaiah prophesied that the river (the Nile) would totally dry up, causing plant life to wither and those who were dependent on its waters to wail. Agriculture, weaving, and fishing would vanish. The entire work force would be troubled of soul.

19:16-17 | The phrase in that day begins five oracles. These statements point to God’s threats against Egypt and His promises for Judah’s future. The Egyptian leaders would become timid, fearful, and alarmed.

19:19-25 | Isaiah offered hope to Israel in the midst of judgment as well as to the nations that would turn to God and worship Him in the future. The bold vision of 19:23-25 depicts the two superpowers of Isaiah’s time – Assyria and Egypt – becoming allies and joining with Israel in worshiping the one true God (Mal. 1:11).
