- seeking God VS rejecting God
- 1 Chronicles 10:13-14, “Saul died for his breach of faith. He broke faith with the Lord in that he did not keep the command of the Lord, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance.14 He did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.”
- The Love of God requires the Justice of God: making things as they should be.
- Micah 6:9, “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
- “Love without truth is sentimentality; it supports and affirms us but keeps us in denial about our flaws. Truth without love is harshness; it gives us information but in such a way that we cannot really hear it. God’s saving love in Christ, however, is marked by both radical truthfulness about who we are and yet also radical, unconditional commitment to us. The merciful commitment strengthens us to see the truth about ourselves and repent. The conviction and repentance moves us to cling to and rest in God’s mercy and grace.” - Tim Keller, The Meaning of Marriage
- The
- Choosing God means that we are seeking God.
- 1 Chronicles 16:11, “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
- “Seeking the Lord means seeking his presence. “Presence” is a common translation of the Hebrew word “face.” Literally, we are to seek his “face.” But this is the Hebraic way of having access to God. To be before his face is to be in his presence.” - John Piper [1]
Response
- Am I seeking God or am I just running around the room?
- What changes do I need to make to my life, my family my work to live in the presence of God?
