07/20 - 07/21: A PRAYER TO STAND FIRM IN THE BATTLE - Ephesians 6:10 - 14a
July 20, 2024

A YEAR OF PRAYER

A PRAYER TO STAND FIRM IN THE BATTLE

Put on The Full Armor of God

10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14  Stand therefore… —Ephesians 6:10 - 14a

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. —Ephesians 6:14

THE BELT OF TRUTH

“The understanding of the whole of God’s character as defined doctrinally and theologically in The Bible.”

BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,
and faithfulness the belt of His waist. —Isaiah 11:5

For He put on righteousness as a breastplate,
and a helmet of salvation on His head;
He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. —Isaiah 59:17

THE BIBLICAL DEFINITION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: “ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD”

My tongue shall speak of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness. —Psalm 119:172

Righteousness imputed by faith.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21

Righteousness put on through obedience to Christ.

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
3  For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
4  that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. —Romans 8:1 - 4

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. —Romans 8:14

1. The breastplate of righteousness protects the “heart” as to cultivate the imputed seed of righteousness.

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. —Proverbs 4:23

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? —Jeremiah 17:9

A good man out of the good treasure [a]of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. —Matthew 12:35

16  So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17  Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18  And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
19  Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20  So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. —Matthew 17:16 - 20

He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage. —Proverbs 11:28

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. —Proverbs 11:30

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. —Philippians 1:11

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you. —Hosea 10:12

1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. —Romans 12:1 - 2

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. —Galatians 2:20

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. —Matthew 6:33

1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. —John 15:1 - 5

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. —Hebrews 4:12

1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. —PSalms 1:1 - 3

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. —Matthew 5:16

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” —John 7:37 - 38
