12/17/2023: HOPE - WEEK TWO
December 17, 2023

PESERVERING TO HOPE

19  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,
20  where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. —Hebrews 6:19 - 20

1  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2  through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3  And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4  and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5  Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in
our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. —Romans 5:1 - 5

THE HOPE OF LIGHT

1  Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, as when at first He lightly esteemed the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward more heavily oppressed her, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles.
2  The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. —Isaiah 9:1 - 2

1. Light brings hope for today and a promise for tomorrow.

Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, as when at first He lightly esteemed the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward more heavily oppressed her, by the way of the sea,
beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles. —Isaiah 9:1

15  “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:
16  The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.” —Matthew 4:15 - 16

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. —Matthew 6:34

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you,
the hope of glory. —Colossians 1:27

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” —John 8:12

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. —James 1:17

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them. —Isaiah 42:16

A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel. —Luke 2:32

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. —2 Corinthians 4:6

2. The Light of The World confuses and dispels darkness.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; —Isaiah 9:2a

4  In Him was life, and the life was the light
of men.
5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. —1 John 1:4 - 5

78  Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;
79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” —Luke 1:78 - 79

3. The Light of The World brings victory over hopelessness.

Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. —Isaiah 9:2b - c

6  For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. —Isaiah 9:6 - 7

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. —Ephesians 5:8

13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. —Colossians 1:13 - 14

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” —John 8:12

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17

There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall
reign forever and ever. —Revelation 22:5
