Isaiah 9:6 NLT
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NLT

1. Jesus brings correction to our worship.

  • When the urgent in our lives unseats the necessary, we begin to lose passion and conviction about the most important things.

  • 2. Jesus brings hope to our greatest need.
  • So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Ephesians 2:19 NLT
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in Believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 ESV

  • 3. Jesus brings peace to our brokenness.
  • Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,… Isaiah 9:7 NKJV
  • “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” Isaiah 32:17
  • Graciousness and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Psalm 85:10 NASB
  • He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement that brought us peace was laid upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6 NKJV

  • 4. LOOK TO JESUS
  • Jesus canceled the charge of our indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:14 NIV
  • God saved us FROM ourselves, TO Himself, THROUGH Himself, BY Himself, and FOR Himself.
