Jesus is Greater
Message Study Questions
Message Summary
Jesus is greater — greater than anything we face, greater than our failures, and greater than all the obstacles that tried to keep Him from the cross.
On His final night, Jesus encountered betrayal, abandonment, human weakness, arrest, and suffering, yet He never wavered. He washed the feet of the one who would betray Him, prayed for those who would abandon Him, and submitted to the will of the Father despite the agony ahead. Even as He was arrested, beaten, and crucified, He forgave those responsible. His devotion was greater than the disciples’ desertion, His self-control was greater than His flesh, and His mission was greater than any opportunity to escape. The only ones who received no compassion from Jesus were those who thought they were greater than Him.
Humility is the key to entering His Kingdom. So what in your life is too big for Jesus to handle? Nothing. Jesus is greater than your past, your failures, your struggles, and your successes. He isn’t just an add-on to your life—He is the hero of your story. Bring everything to His feet, because He is greater!
How well do you grasp the greatness of Jesus? What are some ways that we can elevate our perspective of Him?
Why is humility sometimes so difficult?
Consider This
Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Read John 13:4-5.
Why do you think Jesus washed his disciples’ feet?
Have you ever washed another’s feet who was not a family member? How did you and the other person feel about it afterwards?
When and why is it hard for you to accept help (service) from others?

Did Jesus condemn His disciples for running away? What does that tell you about God’s love for us?

Moving forward – Application
Jesus is greater than anything in this world. By observing His life and following His example by faith, we too can overcome. Because, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
