ICEBREAKER: Describe your perfect outdoor summer adventure. What makes this your favorite adventure?
Read Genesis 1:26-31.
What does it mean to be made in God’s image? How does being made in God’s image shape our understanding of our lives?
What does God give to humanity in this passage? With all of these elements of Creation, God also gives responsibilities. What are those responsibilities? What does ruling over creation look like today? How can we rule over creation in a way that honors God?
Read Leviticus 25:1-6.
Why would God tell the people to let the land rest? Sabbath rest is worked into God’s design for all of creation. How would our lives/world be different if we practiced such a thorough sabbath rest?
How does sabbath help us learn to trust God? What keeps us from this kind of rest?
What is one thing we can do to better steward our rest? What is one thing we can do to better steward creation?
How can we pray for each other this week?
