8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. —1 John 1:8-2:2

LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS
1. Share about your online/virtual life (cell phones, social media, basically anything you do online). What impact (good or bad) has it made on you personally? Your family? How does it impact your relationship with God?
2. In our “connected” world, do you believe we are more in touch with reality? Or less? Why do you believe that is? How does it compare to prior generations?
3. In your own words, summarize 1 John 1:5-2:2. How would you describe the reality John is giving?
4. John the Apostle seems to be saying that our biggest problem is Sin. What are the competing voices in the culture saying on what the biggest problem in the world is today?
5. Here is one definition of sin: any disposition or act contrary to God. Can you come up with a different definition? Why is the word “disposition” just as important as the word “act”?
6. Jesus, as the only solution to the sin problem, is described as our advocate, (the) Christ, the Righteous (one), our Propitiation, Faithful, and Just. Which description of Jesus connects most closely to your own heart?
7. Take an honest assessment of your heart about confession. Are you quick to confess, or more reluctant? Is your confession usually generic, or specific? How can you be more in tune with your own sin in your life? How can you help others be more in tune with sin in their life and what would that look like?
