Matthew 28:19-20
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Make disciples
At its core of everything the church does, making disciples is at the center.
The measure of success isn’t in how many places we go, how many people we teach it’s not even in how many people we baptize heaven doesn’t celebrate any of those numbers. The measure of success for this church is making disciples.
Just knowing information doesn’t make a disciple
A disciple isn’t just a person who knows what Jesus knew and believes who Jesus is, a disciple is someone who does what Jesus did.
Titus 2 - Older women train the younger women.
2 Timothy - train faithful men in the congregation
Ephesians 6 - Fathers, train children
Disciples make disciples.
John 15:8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove that you are my disciples.
- God’s plan for telling the world about Jesus is you.
1. Disciples see worship as a lifestyle
“As you are going”
We see every part of our life as worship
2. Disciples are believers and belongers.
- This church isn’t just a place where you experience belief, it’s a place you belong to so you can be equipped to expand the kingdom.
3. Disciples value serving over sitting.
4. Disciples see stewardship as a tool to make disciples.
5. Disciples respond to the call of Jesus to make disciples.
Matthew 4:19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 11:11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
- The weakest vessel filled with His spirit is more powerful than the most eloquent speaker without him.
