ALL IN

A Fresh Start - Week 1
Pastor Drew Doland

14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! —2 Corinthians 5:14-17 NIV

Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. —2 Corinthians 5:17 MSG

What can I do to get a fresh start?

1st Enemy of a Fresh Start:

Hope is found when we trust God to lead our lives.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. —Jeremiah 29:11-12 NIV

6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
7
Show me the wonders of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.
8
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings —Psalm 17:6-8 NIV

1. We gain Hope by understanding God is for us.

2nd Enemy of a Fresh Start:

Freedom is forgiveness for our yesterdays, to have hope for our tomorrow.

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:23-25 NIV

2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. —Galatians 6:2

2. We gain

by understanding God us to love each other.

3rd Enemy of a Fresh Start:

Identity produces security in a world that feels insecure.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. —1 Peter 2:9-10 NIV

10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. —1 John 4:10 NIV

3. We gain

by understanding God us.
