Message Overview

This week we explore the wondrous theme of miracles, starting with the first sign performed by Jesus in the Gospel of John - the transformation of water into wine at a wedding in Cana. We’ll unravel the concept of wonder, which encapsulates feelings of surprise, admiration, and amazement brought about by something beautiful, unexpected, or unexplainable. Through this narrative, we invite you to experience Jesus with fresh eyes and an open heart, observing how John depicts these miracles as clues to something much grander. Join us as we ponder on Jesus’ transformative power and how, just as he turned water into wine, he has the ability to bring about significant change in our lives.

In our conversation, we pose questions about the areas of your life where you might need a miracle and emphasize the value of simple obedience to Jesus, no matter how challenging it might seem. We draw inspiration from the servants who obeyed Jesus’ instructions, resulting in the wonder of water turning into wine. Be inspired to trust Jesus, obey His instructions, and experience His transformative power.

Finally, we challenge you to embody a brim-filling faith, one that isn’t confined by our limitations but trusts in Jesus’ infinite power. Using the story of the wedding at Cana, we illustrate how Jesus wants to do more than we can ask or imagine, encouraging us to trust Him with all our needs. We also discuss how Jesus overturns societal norms, providing the best wine last, indicating his desire to turn things right side up in our lives. Join in and let’s explore together the transformative power of Jesus and the awe it can instill in us.

Day 1 - John 2:1-12
Today we dive into the Gospel of John, focusing on Jesus’ first recorded miracle - turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana. This miraculous event showcases Jesus’s power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Reflect on areas of your life that may need a transformative touch from Jesus.
How can you invite Jesus into these areas and trust in His power?

Day 2 - Luke 6:46-49
Today’s scripture underscores the importance of obedience to Jesus’ words. In the sermon, we reflected on how the servants at the wedding obeyed Jesus, leading to the miraculous transformation of water into wine. Ponder areas in your life where you need to practice simple obedience to Jesus.

How can following His words bring transformation?

Day 3 - Ephesians 3:14-21
Today, we meditate on the concept of “brim filling faith”. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. Reflect on your faith.

Are you limiting your requests to Jesus, or are you inviting Him to fill your life to the brim?

How can you cultivate a faith that expects and trusts in Jesus’ abundance?

Day 4 - Isaiah 55:8-9
As we close our reading plan, reflect on how Jesus’ actions at the wedding in Cana defied societal norms. The best wine was usually served first, but Jesus provided the best wine last. This act demonstrates Jesus’ desire to invert our expectations.

As you reflect on today’s scripture, consider areas in your life where God might be inviting you to trust His ways over your own.

Day 5 - Matthew 19:26
Matthew 19:26 reminds us that with God, all things are possible. Reflect on this verse in light of the miracle at Cana. Jesus, with a simple command, transformed water into the finest wine, proving that nothing is too difficult for Him.

In what areas of your life do you need to trust in the limitless power of Jesus?
